Google Gemini is taking orders. Your store isn't.

Google just launched Gemini Shopping. So if you search for a desk lamp, Gemini will show you options from places like Etsy, Wayfair, and Walmart. You'll see pictures, reviews, and prices, and you can buy it right there in the chat. Etsy, Wayfair, and Walmart are already set up for this. Stores on Shopify can also connect. But if your store is self-hosted on something like WooCommerce or OpenCart, it won't show up. Your competitors' stores might, though.
Here's how it works
A customer opens Gemini and says, I need a work lamp, under $60, something simple. Gemini looks for products from its partners and shows them three options. The customer picks one, buys it within Gemini, and that's that. Your store never even showed up in the search results.
The issue isn't that Gemini can't find your store. It's that Gemini doesn't know how to understand what you're selling. Gemini needs structured data—actual product details, not just your website's main page. If you don't provide that, Gemini will just move on to the next store.
This is what the competition looks like now
You might have better products than whoever shows up first on Google. But Gemini doesn't care about SEO. It cares about whether it can read your product catalog. If the store next to you published their product information clearly and you didn't, Gemini will recommend them. The customer won't even know you exist.
And this is happening right now, not sometime in the future.
What you need to do
There are two main things. First, you need structured product data. This means using schema markup so that computers can understand what you sell—things like size, color, material, price, and shipping info. Second, you need an MCP endpoint so that AI assistants can directly access your store and place orders without needing a person involved.
You don't have to switch e-commerce platforms or rebuild your website. Just add this data layer and connect it, and then Gemini (and other AI assistants like ChatGPT) will be able to find your store.
We can help with OpenCart, WooCommerce, and Magento. If you go to dreamvention.com/scan, you can see exactly what Gemini sees on your store right now. Most stores get a poor rating. Getting your store from a D to a B typically takes about two weeks of work.
There's still time
Right now, most self-hosted stores are invisible to these AI shopping assistants. This isn't a huge problem yet because not many people are asking Gemini to buy things. But that's going to change. When it does, stores that can be found will have a significant advantage while others remain unseen.
If you want your store to be among the visible ones, run the scan. See where you stand. After that, we can discuss how to set up the integration for your specific store.
